Rooms are far too small for that price. Poor furnishings, tiny bathroom, no concierge, place is in dire need of an update

Excellent sympathetic staff, flexibility on requests and prompt aid on any question. Close to center (well located) and nice view.

Old style equipments (furniture and heating), beds too soft (easily twist back) and twin beds on double rooms.

The location was excellent, surely in view of the visit to an exhibition tot the Hermitage Museum, but also in view of the lively neighborhood.

No complaints

The location was good for access to all of the city's attractions.

The roadworks immediately outside the hotel and bedroom were intrusive, extremely annoying and unattractive. The only compensation offered by the staff was a pair of free ear plugs and a free drink at another hotel! The furnishings in the room were old, tired and shabby. the bed was stained and in places the room was unclean. The shower was poor. Their was no bar, and the reception looked less than 4 star. This is not a 4 star hotel, and I will be writing to the dutch authorities to question this rating. As such the details are misleading.

they gave us a room with a shared balcony on the first floor which ment that who ever could have free access in our room through the balcony. we explaned the problem and asked them to assign us an another room with no balcony and what they gave us was a room next to the old one: sure there was no balcony but a window, always looking onto the same balcony, common to other clients. i work in the hotel business too and i have never seen such a dusty and unclean hotel room in my life. our stay was short and this is why i didn't want to waiste my time looking for an another place to stay otherwise i would have done it. this hotel needs a completely renovation and is no worth of its four star.

The staff was clueless and did not know anything about the city. They were all students. All of the old staff was gone. The hotel charged $30 a day for internet service. This is a change from their past policy it used to be about $10 a day. Still high but tolerable. Their breakfast was very expensive and the quality was poor. I travel to Amsterdam once a year and always stay at the Doelen. Due to recent changes by management I will not stay there again.
