Al Viminale Hill Inn & Hotel

“If you are looking for a true Italian experience in Rome at a very moderate price, Al Viminale Inn is a great choice. Taking up 2 floors of an historic building, it has all the romance and authenticity of a bygone era. Many small hotels in Rome are similarly located in parts of old buildings, so don't expect seating in a foyer, or a bar or restaurant on the premises; but what you will get is an original Roman entry doorway to the building, marble staircase and antique lift along with small but comfortable rooms. There is a small central area where you can make your own tea and coffee anytime which is good. The room was very clean, and the bed was comfy. There is limited space for luggage but that didn't bother me, however 2 people might find it a squeeze. The bathroom was very nice, I had room 102 on the first floor and was very happy with it. Although is was outside the common tea and coffee making area so you are subject to some noise at times. On the ground floor there is a small office where you check in and out, which is staffed from 8am to 10pm; there's also a room where you can leave your luggage if necessary, however they may charge 1euro if over 4 hours. This hotel is only a 10 minute walk from Termini but in a nice street and directly opposite the Opera House. You can easily walk to most sights in and around Rome, but take good walking shoes, as you do a lot of it. The staff were very helpful and friendly.”
