Hotel Alegria

This gracious old hotel, built in 1865, is on a deligthtful secluded praca (square) just one block off the beautiful Avenida Liberdade and a pleasant 5 min. walk from the Rossio and centre of old Lisbon. The balconied rooms with French doors face this plaza and you can enjoy the view of the noble palm and elm trees as well as the splashing fountain there. Rooms are simple but clean and we enjoyed this hotel the most of all that we stayed in during 18 days in Portugal, including the pousadas! A real gem.

Hotel was spotlessly clean and great value for money

None really, only minor problem was the shortage of tables for breakfast, sometimes had to wait a while for a table to become available.
