Port Denia

Port Denia is within easy walking distance of the beach and the town centre is about 1.2km away. You will have to pay for hotel parking but there is plenty of free on-street parking adjacent to the hotel. There is a nice swimming pool area and the lounge area is what you might expect for a typical holiday resort hotel catering for package holiday customers mainly above a certain age. Reception was quick and efficient. The location is very convenient.

We have stayed in hotels of varying quality around the world but the food and drinks provided at Port Denia rank with the worst. We stayed half board for seven days and at breakfast often trays of food on the buffet bar were left empty for ten or twenty minutes - eggs but no bacon or vice-versa, beans but no chips. The same performance was repeated at dinner (we did not experience lunch). The automatic bread toasters are a joke. You have to put the bread through at least 4 or 5 times to get a reasonable tint. I left mine running through whilst I went to collect coffee (sludge) and when I got back someone had pinched the toast. As mentioned the drinks are dire. There are four or five drinks machines in the dining room but sometimes you had to hunt round for ones that worked or even had cups available. Dining room staff were sullen, if not surly, and it was difficult to raise a smile from most, but there were the odd exceptions. Some of those guests "of a certain age" though the food and drinks were acceptable, sometimes good. I have had a wide experience and I do not think I am picky, but I would advise the management to take a serious look at the way the dining facilities are presented. Check-out was fast. We had to pay up front on arriving at the hotel.
