Clean, nice staff, great location

First room they put us in smelled very moldy and musty, and the housekeeper agreed. But the guy in at the front desk was unapologetic and said thatâ€™s what happens bc they are the 2nd closest hotel to the ocean, which is a lie. Hotel is in a sketchy
This is a very nice hotel, above average for the three star rating is has online. We booked a large comfortable King room with a small balcony. The balcony is a nice addition, although the hotel does not provide any outdoor chairs for use on the balcony.
During this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, when we stayed there, the hotel's services were very limited. Although it was advertised as breakfast included, they are not serving any food, and the "pick up at the desk" breakfast was very disappointing.
The GM was willing to "upgrade" to a double queen. Room was nice: roomy, cool, nice bedding and bath.
The customer service was terrible.Leaky toilet in which I had to remove the lid and fix it every time we flushed-reported this to two cleaning staff members AND the GM-nothing was done. No cleaning for a four day stay. Never greeted by staff.
The General Manager was rude, inflexible and completely unprofessional.
Very clean, new hotel. Loved the rooms, the breakfast, the pool/hottub, and the proximity to West Cliff, Natural Bridges and UCSC's Coastal Science Center.
The location is perfect! Minutes from the university. The hot tub and pool are my favorite things to do there.
I believe I have stayed there 4 times and 3 of the 4 times there was no hot water in the morning. Just like this last visit. I have to go back in April, not sure if I will stay there.
It was a great newer option in the SC area. Clean, nice details and decor and furniture and a very comfortable bed. I woukd expect more stars than what they have been given.

It was typical Marriott with clean comfortable rooms. Breakfast was good.
The location was not desirable.
The location was very close to the boardwalk, beaches, attractions, and dining. Hotel was quiet, not crazy busy, and the caliber of the guests and staff were to my liking. Hotel was clean and well maintained.
Slight attention to detail when cleaning was needed but it was NOT terrible by any means. Bathroom door needed to be wiped better. Continental breakfast could have had more options for vegetarians or people who don't eat a lot meat. Eggs weren't great.
Very new, updated and clean
It's a little bit towards the outskirts of the main part of Santa Cruz but the drive wasn't too bad and it kept us away from a lot of the riff raff that wanders around down there.
