Our original ticketed dates were canceled and we were rebooked for a day later at the start and end of our trip without ever being notified. Waited on hold over an hour 4 separate times for assistance from Japan air, since kayak and chatdeal refused to help. Japan air never answered and kayak would only offer to rebook us if we paid a $2000+ Difference in cost. Absolutely horrid overall experience. The Japan airlines flight crew was excellent, but we’re now departing and arriving on dates we did not choose.
Ticket flight selling should more detail at each a few countries when transit to Vietnam Ho Chi City. Unfortunately, I could not take this flight which was July 22 because i have to transfer airport in Japan. So that, I had to pay another ticket one way to Vietnam and in difference day.
Crew is personal, friendly, efficient and helpful. Together they made the ride even more enjoyable. A+++
The number of flights available from the west coast US to southeast Asia has been severely reduced to the covid pandemic so flyers do not have all the options as in the past. So I reluctantly flew on JAL despite all the negative reviews [Spoiler: the reviews were correct]. Although I was pleased with the efficiency of the flight, the sincerity of the crew, and the high quality meals, the substandard business class accommodations made the whole flight uncomfortable. The chair was small, cramped, lumpy, and offered little privacy. It by no means compares to business class on China Eastern or Singapore Airlines -- the groups I usually fly. JAL will need to significantly upgrade business class if I consider this flight in the future.

They split up all four of our seats (despite booking more than 30 days in advance). Our seven (7) year old daughter was by her self. So was our fifteen (15) year old son. When we addressed it to baggage check (part of major issue number 2), they put two seats together, across an aisle, with both children in them. We obviously just sat one of the adults with the seven year old. This was not just us. SEVERAL families had children seated alone and spread all over the plane. ANA needs to require grouped seating for children under thirteen (13) years old with an adult. 2. Tokyo Haneda is the only airport I can think of where I have to pick up and check baggage again just to clear customs. The flights were 1 hour and 45 minutes apart. With nearly an hour dedicated to getting baggage claimed and getting through customs, we barely had time to fix two of our split seats (see issue 1) and rush via a free bus route that took 6 minutes (luckily we were first stop) to get us to domestic terminal 2. We were then lucky again because we made it through security quickly and our gate happened to be right next to the security check we chose. Another side piece: Haneda Domestic Terminal 2 has four security check areas (A-D). We saw no identifying marks indicating which were closest to which gate. Our bags have already been through a bag check process. Feel free to run them through security scans. Don’t make us wait to collect them just to walk them through the customs desk and check them again."

We were advised they changed us to a bulkhead row w/an unoccupied seat adjacent to his. Twice during the flight one of the flight attendants came to tell him that she would help him off the plane so to wait for her after the rest of the passengers disembarked. The meal was very tasty.Chicken karaage was not crispy but I wouldn't expect it to be. The rest of the items were well seasoned with the right consistency. Dessert was a flan custard with passion fruit sauce (very Hawaii!), even including a few seeds from the fruit as garnish."

Left gate a few minutes early and arrived 20 min early in Tokyo. Flight time is pretty good - 8pm departure which gives time for a relaxed day sightseeing in Dusseldorf before going to the airport in the late afternoon, Arrival in Tokyo is about 2pm which would be a good time to check in to hotels and relax. Food was good - dinner after take-off and a brunch-type meal a few hours before landing. Entertainment system is also very good although I'd flown a lot recently so seen the films I wanted to see already. Sometimes ANA are just "good" but this one was the best one I've flown recently."

It was a very comfortable journey. Everything was good and should be maintained
I love my experience with this airline. The crew was very accommodating and the service was more than excellent. It felt like being home up in the clouds.

The crew was good. Plane was old. No USB to charge my phone. Imagine a 10 hr flight with an old screen not even clear images. The worst part all of my father and my boxes are damaged. It’s all squished, broken, ripped and damaged. All souvenirs and breads I got from my homeland all damaged. Imagine the disappointment I got. My aunt and father are old and in wheelchair. The agent didn’t help us at all. Had me moved all my luggages. Worst part left them in wheelchairs in the middle of the baggage carousels area by themselves. Didn’t explain anything to them while I was as getting all our checked in luggage that’s tagged all the to anchorage. So now I’m left with all luggages and my wheel-chaired older family by ourselves no assistance at all. With damaged luggages to one to ask for help or anything.

When we asked her how we should proceed, she repeated the same statement about "responsibility as a passenger" over and over instead of telling us where to go get the correct paperwork. She offered no tips, next steps, empathy, or direction and did not even say, "I don't know". With her tone of voice, she basically said, "It's not my problem and I do not care - go away." My fiance and I canceled our flight and flew with Korean Air."

I was stopped at the gatein Seoul by Asians who refused to board me on the plane because my itenary was incorrect. Will never fly either of these airlines again, and am currently seeking repayment for my unintended 4 day stay in Seou"

Though I double checked with the Quarantine offices in Chicago and in Incheon, and they said that I did not need any documentation, the person at the check-in counter would not let me take the cats without the Quarantine office's written permission. Only after an hour of explanations I could take the cats. It seemed that that person was not familiar with rules on pet transportation."

When we recently tried to board a plane in Inchon, Korea for a return flight to San Francisco we were told that we could not board though the gate labeled "Elite/Gold Club members" but had to stand in the long line of Economy class customers. When I asked "Why", I was told it was for Star Alliance Gold Club members, not Asiana Gold Club members. There was no indication on the sign there was a difference. Don't get me wrong, I'm not so disturbed about standing in the long line. I was upset because of the implied difference in the Star Alliance Gold Club benefits vs. Asiana Gold Club benefits and, as far as I am aware, the unpublished differences so when we as customers are at the airport trying to operate within the system, we know what to do. Please confirm there is a difference and what those differences are. Jerry"

They passed me when serving the food just because the aisle seat passenger next to me was served his special meal earlier, so they did not notice that the passenger at the window seat (which was me) had no tray in front of him when running the regular meal service. Isn't this sloppy !? Problem is that once they passed you, it's hard to get their attention, as they are always in a hurry, and not looking over the cabin just to check if someone needs something or wants to call on them for any reason, and there are no attendant calling buttons available. So you have to wait until they come by your seat again. Finally I got my meal with apologies 15 minutes later, but the experience was already ruined and the negative impression built.. Also, when departing from Taipei, the boarding process was a bit disorganized, compared with the one we had in Vancouver. As for as the entertainment, the LCD monitor at my seat was pretty worn out, with very poor contrast, making it difficult to watch a movie or read information. Same airline with two opposing experiences: Vancouver-to-Taipei very good, Taipei-to-Manila: poor."

Serving an American destination, they should know how much ice Americans like in drinks. Normally not a big deal, but when you really need to cool down to keep from barfing, it is important."

Signage is poor watering lounge features giant rocks for seating and I found out later that there is a proper lounge downstairs. No signage in English to tell you about the seating downstairs. Poor selection of food in terminal. we have to pay for WiFi and when you get it, it's very slow."

My flight to Seoul via Taipei was a bit uncomfortable bc the flight was fully packed and even though I had an aisle seat, the person sitting in the middle was hogging up all my space . Once I landed in Taipei and went on next flight to my destination at Seoul, that flight was much more comfortable and less people. On my return direct flight from Taipei to JFK seats were comfy and service is always attentive. I enjoy taking china airlines and can always rely on their service and clean planes"

Somehow a very tight connection still was met, but my baggage did not make the connection. So far (one day later) they have located one of my bags and said it will be delivered soon. The other is still missing."

Understand it's economy, but for a 12 hr. flight it's difficult. Also, check-in line took almost 2 hrs, giving most of us 30 min to go through security and find the boarding gate."
