Rude gate staff, not much service on plane

Korean Air was very friendly and professional! I am kinda tall and skinny so my legs cramped up and my butt hurt after awhile, I used my pillow to sit on. Not a fault of the airline just a bit uncomfortable, but it was long flights.

For the flight being a very late departure and both locations being around the same timezone (1 hour difference) I feel as if the lights were left on for too long, over an hour after departure, and then turned on too early, 2 hours prior to landing. Too improve comfort I would suggest to begin service upon takeoff and turning the lights off immediately after, and turning them on an hour before landing to conduct service. Better yet, if possible, conduct service with the lights off and individuals that require additional lighting may use their individual light. I believe, and witnessed in my area, a majority of personnel that just wanted to sleep during these flight hours."

Due to fog in Brisbane, the flight was diverted to Gold Coast. After arriving in Gold Coast we had to take a bus to Brisbane. It's kind of a long story, but basically I will say it was handled well for the most part my China airlines. Certainly, fog was not there fault and they did everything they could to accommodate passengers, including putting us up in two very nice hotels."

Nobody on the plane knew what we were doing - who was supposed to get on the bus and who was supposed to stay. The Australian immigration authorities and Gold Coast airport staff took control, but again, China Airlines staff had completely disappeared. Nobody was there to tell us whether we should collect our luggage, how to get an appropriate visa to enter Australia, where to go to get on the bus (or even if we SHOULD get on the bus). I was really frustrated at the point, but other than that, I would say they handled it quite well"

A mess of lines trying to get a new boarding pass for a rebooked missed connection—at the front of the line the agent said oh, you need to wait in this other line. Agents had no clue where to direct passengers and gave incorrect directions that necessitated more waiting. No updates to new flight time in the business class lounge. Once the flight was in the air, service was terrible. Attendants would ask for orders, then never bring them or bring the wrong thing."

Ưu: "It's not the cheapest way to fly but it's a great way to cross the Atlantic. Seats are big enough for 2, really. Lay flat beds make the night crossing east tolerable. You really can get several hours sleep. The cabin crew is outstanding, patient, and extremely responsive to requests. Two meals served were excellent. Entertainment choices were complete. After a number of flights in Economy on other airlines I'm spoiled by Singapore Airlines and also by Business Class. And their fares seemed much less than others for the JFK to FRA route. Had no idea this level of luxury existed on an airplane."

Singapore restored our upgrade at the airport but only on one direction so we had to go through it all again."

Khuyết điểm: ""Customs" at JFK came to an entire halt. All passengers where stuck in the welcome hall for 1h, without any information, why held there and why nothing was moving forward. All CBP booths were closed, but 8 (eight!) employees, who normally direct arriving passengers to the kiosk-machines where hanging out in two groups sharing private stories and having laughs instead of at least informing passengers, what was going on. Lots of passengers where outraged...a couple in their mid 70s in front of us had to sit down on the floor, since they had circulation problems from standing in line so long. Sadly, JFK isn't what it used to be anymore."

I booked this through Travelgenio and requested a cancellation due to COVID related impact. Their customer service was absolutely terrible and they informed me after the flight had departed that they could not cancel my ticket. Worst experience, will never use them again. Strongly reconsidering using Kayak in future given how poor the travelgenio experience has been.

Very unpleasant and unnerving as we were given no reason for this."

That would have been nice if they did that for me when I asked for a window seat."

Restroom was difficult to access. Overall MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT"

It was after 18 mins that the girl next to me finally got water. Seriously, you can't afford to give a glass of water , it's not like she was asking for coffee or some soft drink, its water ...and when we flew Korean and EVA airlines, they had a small bottle of water available on the seat when we boarded. Then my next row family asked for coffee and after a few minutes the fellow passengers wife decided to have some tea. So the husband called in the hostess and the hostess very rudely said , now you want both coffee and team , next time please let me know at the same time. Then when they served me my special meal, there was no butter in the meal tray, so I patiently waited for them to serve others and when they reached my row, I very nicely asked if I may have some butter...the hostess said, we don't have any butter. I was like...speechless. No butter, no water...and Cathay is a top class airline , HOW is it possible ? And the other crew was ok, this was one crew member a female and her name started from J , don't remember her full name. She was the laziest ever crew member I have ever seen and I am pretty sure she did not like her job. Cathay did not provide any tooth brush or mouth wash. No socks, slippers , eye patch...nothing. While flying to HKG from Toronto, I did not opt for special meal and the meal was just HORRIBLE. It was some beef and I couldn't even cut it with a knife. I think Korean Air is more or less the same as Cathay but in my opinion Korean is much better than Cathay. Cathay is only good for Business/First class. I seriously recommend EVA airlines and if not then Korean but if you are flying economy then stay away from Cathay."

Ưu: "Cathay Pacific has the most attentive flight attendants of any airline on the planet. We had a tight connection in Hong Kong. They accommodated us, by having us move up to Business Class just before landing so that we could get off the plane first. We made our connection without any problem."

When, in Manila, I was forced to check-in that piece of luggage, I forgot to move my medication into my backpack which I carried with me on board. In Taipei, I asked the ground crew to retrieve my medication from my check-in carry-on. The team worked diligently and made sure that my medication was handed to me as I was one boarding the plane with the last few. I was delighted by the level of service and the fact that I was able to take my medication before the flight took off. What a difference in attitude between the Manila and Taipei ground crews. Thank you Taipei ground crew!"

Staff was not the friendliest - asked for water twice, was told just a moment but was never brought any. How do you not give people water on flight over 3 hours? I would have even paid for it. I have a history of heart failure and was worried because my ankles were swelling and my legs were tingling. We missed our bus because of the delay, The airline staff in taiwan took all of our travel info and said they would help us book other transport to get where we were going in Cambodia. When we got to Cambodia the check-in desk was closed so info told us to go to the china airlines office - we waited almost an hour and still no one showed up (middle of the afternoon). Had to pay 6x the price to get to Sihanoukville plus we weren't able to get a refund on the bus tickets. Crying, screaming kids in front of us kept standing up on the seats so no one behind them could see the TV - staff said nothing. Terrible experience."

Khuyết điểm: "Flight was initally delayed 1 1/2 hours to depart at 1:00am it happens. Upon boarding, I noticed the planes legroom was close to none. Within 10 minutes of being on the plane the power shut off, lights out, air flow cut off. Lights turn back on although air doesn't and the captain re assures 10-15 minutes. 2 1/2 hours yes 2 1/2 hours later he says 10-15 minutes again and says the same skit explaining they fixed the problem. Plane turned off again. At this time it was close to 5am and I chose to take my carry on and head towards the front of the plane. The captain has no answers for the alarmed passengers, in which all they could say is if we step off tge plane we choose to leave the flight. Almost in the tone of a threat. We were all fewring our safety for the 9 hour trek over the pacifac ocean. After going back and forth for about 45 mins they finally said if you dont feel comfortable follow me and we will try and locate later flights for you all. 60 of us left the plane and ultimately got flights 12-24 hours later. Horrible experience, horrible communication, no appologies, and on top of that they did not send my bag with the correcr plane, in which I had recieved it 4 days later. My replacement flight wqs on EVA air. Much better airline in which I will never travel with China Airlines ever again."

And it turns out worse, because apparently we had been shifted to a plane that was going to continue into Laos, so the plane came in at the International Arrivals Section and we had to take a bus from there to get our luggage in the Domestic Arrivals Hall. Making it all even later. No food offered for this quite expensive flight, only water, and no entertainment either."

The seat allocation was horrible, and I was surrounded by nasty neighbors, who were chatting throughout the 10+hour flight, even after my verbal warning, not to mention the way children were taken care of. I am not blaming children making noise. I am blaming the lack of control over the parents who bring noisy toys for children and play videos loud enough to disturb the neighbor's sleep throughout the flight."

Ưu: "On its Airbus A 350 Vietnam Airlines recently introduced a new arrangement for the Premium Economy Section. This is the only aircraft used on the SGN-CDG line. Before they had a lay-out of 3-3-3 seats across, strictly identical with the Economy section. It is now 2-4-2, giving some more space to sit comfortably. All seats have now a fixed separation, with the possibility of placing a glass or other small objects on top of it; they look like a smaller version of the old Business Class seats. In the first row the design of the fold-up screens has been improved. Previously some invaded the personal space of the neighbour, as I had experienced last October (my knee still remembers it). Well done. Prem Economy is worth the difference in pricing."
Khuyết điểm: "In Premium Economy Vietnam Airlines used to serve a lavish breakfast menu. Most of it was sent back as waste, because so many passengers (e.g. French) are accustomed to a minimalist continental breakfast. All this lavishness has disappeared now. While I understand the reason why, I wonder why they also eliminated the small portion of jam or jelly. Only butter is available to spread (spread?) on the tiny bun. It would be a nice touch to have also some jelly. Also during the night shift they used to offer some nice sandwiches to sleepless passengers. Now only pots of instant noodles are offered on demand. These pots are not well adapted for European passengers."

Khuyết điểm: "We booked the flight for family of 8 Despite informing them over counter in Narita international airport that to place us at 2 together in the same because we have kid of 8 years and 12 years , we were all allocated separately. We could not do online check in even we log in 24 hours before flight ,all seats shown available is individual. Being in the airport early does not help too. I will definitely not consider taking Vietnam airlines in future n will cautious friends to be aware of such service."
