JAL is one of the most professional & efficient airlines I’ve experienced. The food was very good: even in Economy! The entertainment interface needs some updating.
Our connecting flight was cancelled, then our luggages were loaded onto a different flight that came in after the day of our arrival at Philadelphia. We arranged that we would pick-up rhe luggages from the airport, but AA delivered them instead. So we got our luggages at the end of the day already.
the biggest disappointments was, we were not informed of all the information we need, on our scheduled trip coming back to US.. We've tried a lot of times calling and send an email asking about any procedures that we might need to know upon our return trip, but unfortunately there was no response either at all. then came the horrific day of our return trip to US. after an hour and a half being in the long line, we are surprised when one of the airline staff announce that we need to prepare all documents needed including ANTIGEN TEST. This was the start of our horrific experience on that day. Were told different information from other sources, but heard nothing from JAL, as mentioned earlier that we tried calling them to ask for any info for our flight. Long story short as a result of this horrific misfortune caused by this airline, aside from the unexpected huge expenses that we incurred, as of this moment this problem is not yet resolve as we called them letting them of the situation happened to us in our recent Manila trip going to Seattle May 31, 2022.
There were about 20 people on the flight. It was like getting business-class service from the crew.

The plane stopped in Honolulu at 6:00AM in the morning and no staff was able to assist so they made everyone go through the run-around to have the luggage scanned for agriculture. Then they stated that even though we had pre-check, we did not qualify and the boarding pass was not issued with Honolulu to LAX. Over 5 hours delay and did not know that we could have stayed in Hawaii free room and meals. Terrible and one of the worst vacations ever for returning to the US. The food was not great."

I was forced into a middle seat and was uncomfortable and dehydrated the majority of the trip. Nice girl at baggage check said she'd ask a manager to move me, and to let them know at the gate, but the people at the gate said no. I felt discriminated against because I didn't book through them and/or I'm not Japanese. They historically love to put mushrooms in their food, like a fetish. This left me with one choice for the entree - some version of oyakodon - eggs and chicken. In my box there were two enormous chunks of fat/skin and another unidentifiable part of the chicken, and about the amount of edible chicken as 1 1/2 nuggets from Chick-Fil-A. There was more lotus root than chicken, so basically I had a box of rice and scrambled eggs with garnish. For the second meal, it was the Yoshinoya gyudon - a small serving of thinly sliced beef with rice. If I bought this fresh at a Yoshinoya restaurant, it would cost about $3. It's the rough equivalent of serving you a McDouble - cheap and filling and a coin toss if you get stomach pains. I lost that coin toss. Unless there is a big fare difference or I find out that their reserved seat policies are changed, I will choose ANA or another carrier. I used to enjoy JAL, but I cannot abide by idiotic decisions that seemed designed to punish people for using 3rd-party booking sites or who are not Japanese."

It took them two months - TWO MONTHS - to email me back, to tell me there was nothing they could do. I also had to be reticketed on my flight from Tokyo to Hanoi. It took them 3 1/2 hours to do this. I had to sit in the airport for 3 1/2 hours to get my ticket changed. Unbelievable. They could’ve chiseled it in stone faster than they issued it."

Khuyết điểm: "We were informed our flight was not to land in Haneda but at Narita. We specifically picked that flight pattern because of the ease of traveling from Hawaii to Haneda to Naha. We wouldn't have to drag two large suitcases and a rollaboard after checking out of customs and immigration very far. Same airport to land and depart. Well the arrival airport was changed to Narita $32.00 per person for Airport Limobus to Haneda. We get off at Haneda and are informed we cannot stay there and wait at the domestic airport for our 6:25 am flight to Naha. We had to load all 6 pieces of luggage on the shuttle bus and transfer to the international terminal because they close the domestic terminal at midnight. There was no hotel accommodations at the domestic airport as the hotel was booked two months in advance!!! We had to wait at the international airport terminal till 4:30 am when we then transferred back to the domestic terminal with our 6 pieces of luggage. Tell me how happy you'd be!!!"

Passengers on International flights going out of the Philippines are advised be at the airport at least 3 hours before scheduled flight. Well, the JAL check-in counter opened at 650AM for the 950AM flight (exactly 3 hours before the scheduled flight), with maybe some 50 people already in line. With most passengers coming far from the airport, it will be very very helpful if the counter, even at least one counter, would open earlier, so that passengers who came in early could check in early and wait comfortably in the departure area."

Even more so when the food (though very Japanese) was quite good quality in economy. If you have to spend 10 hours or more crossing an ocean ANA is certainly a good bet, at least if you don't mind a bento box style meal."

Khuyết điểm: "From Japan to other places they're always organised, but boarding in London was a little chaotic which is a common problem for ANA flights in other countries *to* Japan - they hadn't set up signs properly or made clear announcements for families with children, First Class, Business class boarding etc. The First Class/Diamond status queue (not for me!) was actually set up in front of a supporting pillar, basic organisational things like that. On balance though, still a top-class airline."

They were not present much at all in BUSINESS CLASS. So that's why I rated the experience as poor. The international food choices are poor. They do not taste good. I think I have to stop flying ANA. Coach seats are just too cramped for an 14 hour and 45 minute flight. Not the airlines fault, that is just the way it is today. Great incentive to upgrade to Business Class, but that would have been an extra $970, not in the budget for my company. I will say this, the meals and flight attendants are world class, even in Coach. I had a blind woman sitting in front of me and the genuine care that the flight attendant proactively provided was heartwarming and inspirational. I was moved by the personal touch and genuinely sincere interest by the fight attendant in this woman's experience and safety. Every aspect of the journey, this particular flight attendant made the airline proud.

Ưu: "The crew was attentive and polite. The flights were on time, and the entertainment options were good. The Doha airport is quite nice, with many eating and retail options. although everything is very expensive, even by airport standards."

The main courses were mediocre and the "sandwich" offered between meals on the 13+ hour flight was cold, soggy and inedible. The seats on our A350 were hard and not very comfortable, and the recline function was difficult to operate. Security at the Doha airport was confusing. We had to go through 3 separate checkpoints for our transfer, each with different rules and procedures. The final check at our departure gate was the worst, with impatient officials giving hurried instructions in heavily-accented English, and scolding if passengers didn't understand. I was sent back through a second time to remove my camera from the bag (and to be scolded by the agent), and was patted down a second time coming back through the x-ray, which had green-lighted me both times. It made me wonder if this was a reaction to the extra scrutiny that Arab passengers receive from our airport security in the USA."

They put extra care for kids and babies and all of kids get gift bag with toys, chocolate etc. which makes everyone happy Especially kids. I personally like to watch new release movies and enjoyed to pass my flight time."

The staff tried to get me to take medicines that I could not read for nauseous but I would not. They said they were prescribed by a doctor! What doctor. The flight was the longest worst ever! 14 hours - nothing to eat or drink! In addition, the head flight attendant said the baggage compartment over my head was a problem as it opens all the way down and bags fall easily out. The bag was easily 30 pounds and landed directly on my head. I suffered a concussion."

I felt that when the flight crew saw this they could have made everyone much more comfortable by switching people to two people per row thus giving them more room especially on such a long flight."

In general, the service was quite poor, making me wonder how does Delta treat the flight attendants, for they seemed tired and careless. The above did not happen in any of my other flights: Atlanta-Guadalajara, Guadalajara-CDMX, CDMX-Atlanta."

You don't get assigned a seat until YouTube up at the airport... That's fine, not really a big deal. But because you didn't select a seat, they don't let you print or view your boarding pass on your phone, forcing you to go to the checking desk. For someone that has TSA pre check and travels alot, all that extra time adds up and can sometimes cause you to miss your flight. Because there is on "fast line" when you check-in like there is at the security check point. I only have this problem with Delta, never American airlines..."

Then, anyone who had luggage, had to lineup against the side of the jetway, awaiting their luggage, and increasing the congestion. First, it was inconvenient. Worse, if there was any kind of emergency, I believe it would have created a unsafe environment. Very Poor Design & Process ! ! !"

If I paid for a seat and I'm allowed two carry ons then there should be room for them. Don't ask people to check bags because of a full plane. The crew should have there own place to store their belongings, not where the passengers do and take their space. The life rafts need to be easy to get to but again should take up a spot a passenger has paid for their luggage to go. If that is the only space for these items then don't allow passengers to bring two items if in those seats or on the whole plane. It's really disappointing when your told you may have to check your bag because there's not enough room."

The crew was very unorganized, they couldn't even figure out how to give drinks and snacks in an efficient manner with initially skipping several rows without asking about either. Other airlines (like JetBlue) block out adjacent sears and give snacks in individual bags but this... I flew several times since the pandemic began and this was by far the worst. What a joke of an airline. Never flying them again"

However, after waiting 20 min for the de-icing that never came, they made us get back off the plane because of mechanical issues. The captain/pilot was rude to the woman working the desk over the radio, to the point where she had to leave the desk and go speak to him in person (she knew we could hear everything.) That conversation is also how the whole line of people was informed that then knew about this mechanical issue since the night before, and chose not to fix it before boarding all of us. After getting to Philadelphia later than expected, we were forced to pay for hotel food that was horrible and overpriced. Only to then have our plane be delayed AGAIN because of mechanical issues, again the pilot not giving much information to the attendant she was faced by a room of 40 angry people and had no answers. The departure time slowly crawled out longer, and the only reason I knew was because of having the American app. Information/communication on all ends was poor. I usually fly Allegiant, which is notoriously “cheap,” and I’ve never had an experience like this. Happy my boyfriend has flown with American before and knew to give us an extra day so we didn’t miss the wedding we paid $800 in airline tickets to attend. Just disappointed."

I was lucky to get a seat on the plane which I had to pay extra for even though I booked in January for an August flight. Also it was crazy that there was no inflight entertainment for such a long flight."

I had a broken foot and it was difficult for me to fit my boot and personal item under the seat. Rather than assisting me, she barked commands and quickly walked away as I attempted to address the situation. - poor attitude - failed to ask if I wanted a biscuit but simply slapped one down on my tray table (I HAVE CELIAC DISEASE) - American really needs to catch up with the other airlines and offer a GF option to those of us who have immune disorders. - no WiFi"

Had no in-seat entertainment systems either, and only offered news and sports on the American wi-fi service — not their usual lineup of movies and TV."

I would have missed my next flight if they didn't wait for us. Also I couldn't check in online beforehand, which was frustrating. Also I waited in line at the British Airways desk to check in and it was a long line. When I finally got to the front I was told I had to check in at the American Airlines desk and I wish I had been told that earlier. One staff member was rude when I asked him to repeat the food options."
Ưu: "The plane was nice and clean. Boarding went well and staff nice on boarding. Service was smooth though food not great but then it is airplane food. The morning continental food was nicely packaged and good."
Khuyết điểm: "The plane boarded and left gate a little late but had a maintenance issue with one of its doors so plane had to return to gate. We finally got off the ground almost three hours late but staff tried to be as helpful as possible though they didn’t know much. It was good the passengers seemed fairly patient and accepting. The horror was at the airport in Venice where it took over two hours in very long line just to get through passport check."

I was not the only passenger with issues. Many could not get system to work. Antiquated and/or poorly maintained. Also, announcement made it seem as if you had to pay for wine/beer/spirits. I wasn’t drinking so it didnt matter but at other times this would have been a hassle. Never had this on an international flight. Flight was okay just not top drawer like it used to be. Cost cutting measures have impacted the brand. Would not say it is first tier. Dont mind a “no frills” flight if it results in lower cost to consumer (aka Southwest Airlines)"

We booked , through Kayak, with British Air and paid extra for premium economy and the actual carrier, American, doesn’t know how to process a refund and no such seats are available on our rebooked flight 24 hours later so it has been frustrating."
Ưu: "Three beer and three wine selection made the flight go by quicker. Food was better than expected based on pasta or shepherd's pie options."

I haven't flown on an international flight without entertainment at each seat in 10 years... And I have flown to over 40 countries since then."

Then when we ask about changing to a different flight they told us that the original flight we were supposed to be on (that we booked over 8 months ago) was completely full so that’s why we were moved, and there were no other flights available to switch to. So we accepted that. But when we printed our boarding passes, we saw that our seats were now separate from each other, and they were both middle seats! I don’t understand how booking my tickets so far in advance still resulted in these issues. We were finally able to get an aisle and window seat (not near each other) but both flights had poor to little entertainment, which I wouldn’t have expected on such long flights with American Airlines. Really was letdown. :("

Due to the flight changes, the prepaid ground transportation from Manchester to Leeds wasn't used. Transportation from London to Leeds had to be purchased at a much greater additional expense."

They were rude and inconsiderate as they kept suggesting to fly standby. We shouldn't have to fly standby when it wasn't our fault why were late. They told us our bags would be ok going to Chicago and they we would make the flight, but we did not. I do not know why didn't wait for us considering there were 8 others that also missed the connecting flight. We had to fly to Denver and stay overnight with no luggage and catch a 7:00am flight to Chicago. The last surprise I received was my damaged bag when I got back to Chicago. Thank you for making this trip memorable in a terrible way. I will never book or recommend Kayak or use American Airlines again."

Ưu: "Because this flight was NOT full, my wife and I had the entire center section to stretch out. This made our 7.5 hour flight amazingly comfortable. The Airbus A300 was a reasonably new aircraft. Everything was clean and looked good. The food was exceptionally good. My wife and I both commented on how good the food was (my wife stated, "it was the best airplane food ever"). The main meal, the hotbox snack, and the late in flight chocolate ice cream were ALL good. The staff were great, friendly, service oriented, nice people."

Ưu: "We were notified of the pending delay in our flight from Athens to Philly very promptly on the morning of the 10th. We immediately called and spoke to a British Airways agent and also a supervisor who was understanding and kind enough to accommodate us by reserving seats on a later connecting flight with American Airlines from Philly to Phoenix. We did not receive a confirming email and ended up calling back. We were then told that Vouchers will be waiting for us at the Philadelphia airport with our names."

The AA counter was chaotic, the agents were rude and had changed our seats to 2 separate areas. When we arrived in Philadelphia there were no vouchers waiting for us. The only thing that the agent could find were seat assignments . We stood in line over an hour waiting for her to figure out what had happened and almost missed our connecting flight . Even though my daughter was in a wheelchair with a brace on her leg and in pain, the agent at the counter was not very empathetic at all. The agent also kept saying that this was not correct somebody made a mistake to tell us we were booked and that person will get in trouble. Eventually she spoke with the supervisor and gave us 2 boarding passes."
Khuyết điểm: "Boarding-we boarded class 9 and had a carry on that was to big so all 3 personnel yelled at me and my husband with my daughter in my arms very loud and disrespectfully " YOU CAN NOT BRING THESE TYPE OF BAGS ON THE PLANE!" Mind you 3 people are saying this while other people were also waiting to board the plane! So I quickly say we do not need 3 people to tell us 1 thing and especially yelling at us like we were kids or criminals because it felt like we must have broke the law the way they treated us! That experience was horrible and ruined my liking for AA"

Khuyết điểm: "One FA seemed visibly annoyed with me; I'm honestly not sure what I did. I am a FA for another airline; didn't identify myself as such but always make sure to not be "that passenger." During two beverage services she did not ask me if I wanted anything but simply looked at me with disdain and sighed loudly. She wasn't rude; just not friendly and I never once saw her smile. She seemed tired and annoyed. I understand that feeling. I've been a FA for 16 years, still junior at my company, but it reminded me how important body language and facial expressions are when we work hospitality and customer service in the public eye. I hope everything is ok with her and I'm sorry if I did something that irritated her. I didn't get her name."

Khuyết điểm: "The flight was delayed, at not fault of the crew on board, however the flight attendants did very little to update the passengers on connecting flights and did not try to help in making the connecting flight aware that some passengers would be delayed. I missed my connection by MINUTES (I saw it still taxied at the gate) and they could not hold the plane for 5 passengers connecting. Awful service and procedures."
Ưu: "Equipment was an A330. I was seated in Row 11 and had priority boarding. As a result, I had considerable leg room and not trouble finding overhead space. Seating in the back has several inches less "pitch" between seats. A330s provide a very smooth ride."
Khuyết điểm: "Food: Salad was good, you could taste the arugula. Chicken, once you scrape off the barbecue sauce, was decent. The rest of the lunch did not seem worth eating. The best option if you are hungry is to either eat in the terminal or bring something you do enjoy with you. The movie selection had nothing you likely have not seen already. Be aware that sometimes PHL moves slowly. We waited over 5 minutes for the plane door to open. Bags took about 40 minutes to come up. There were no lines at immigration. Connecting in less than 2 hours can be iffy."
Ưu: "My 17 year old daughter flew American Airlines to attend a wedding. She recently had spinal surgery and is not able to lift more than 5lbs. After being assured by the airline that staff would help her with her carryon luggage, she was abandoned and ignored by both flight attendants. Each flight attendant referred het to the next, so she is walking back and forth tor their amusement. Tears rolling down her face, finally an elderly passenger helped her. Then the staff gave her attitude the entire flight. She may appear healthy, but she was cut from her neck to her waist and had two rods inserted along with bone grafts. I just cannot believe how awful she was treated."

Khuyết điểm: "Plane was very warm upon boarding due to issues with auxiliary cooling but informed it would change as engines turned on . I sat in row 20 and it was very cold during flight. Flight attendant inquired about comfort. It improved for about 10 minutes and returned to cold state . Noticed that one attendant put on some kind of jacket due to coldness . Nearby passengers retrieved blankets from their carry on baggage. Glad I had at least a light jacket to throw over me and that my legs were partially covered. Guess it's better to be too cool than too hot. Otherwise. It was s great flight ."

Ưu: "The pilot tried to make time up in the air after we left late and it was the very first flight in the morning."
Khuyết điểm: "I don't understand how a flight can be delayed and late by 40 minutes when it's the very first flight in the morning due to the plain not starting right. We have to be there early to check in why would pilot and attendants get there early to make sure plan is ready and everything checked before starting on boarding process. Heck drive the plane around to test everything. Also what's up with 1 small cookie when people pay hundred of dollars for a delayed flight. Treat everyone like first class. Better seats. Seats are way to small. And maybe lunch should come with the flight or a bottle of water and a full bag of chips. We pay a lot for those flights. After all it's so expensive to by food in the airport then you wait and find out the flight is delayed."
Khuyết điểm: "My son and I were scheduled to leave Providence to Philadelphia on Monday at 6:05. Flight went through a series of delays until we were finally informed that our flight would not make the flight departing Philly to SF. Rather than fly to Philly during the DNC, we decided to SPEND ANOTHER NIGHT IN PROVIDENCE and take the flight out the next day. This part of the trip caused me to lose a day of work and spend more money on a hotel and meals. This was very poor planning on your part since there were flights flying in and out of both places, but your company was short one aircraft that would have gotten my son and I home on time!!! This was my last flight on American Airlines and I will be sure to spread the word to my friends and family that you have become too unreliable!!"
