To sart with, we were told by Turkish Airline staff to go to the gate more than 1 hour EARLIER than the flight to Houston. Once we arrived at the gate, we were told "I cannot help you with anything about your flight. That is another department" and we to wait our turn and wait for someone to take us down the jetway. We waited for 75 minutes (1.25 hours) until after EVERY OTHER PASSENGER was on board. The flight attendant was unresponsive to us, talked down to my husband and me in a way that was insulting, rude, demeaning and very nasty. When another passenger complained that he did not get the seat that the attendant just changed for him, FOUR flight attendants helped him - one person got on the phone with someone (I don't know who), another went down to his seat to see where he was sitting. Yet another came and tried to explain why they couldn't help and finally a fourth tried to speak with another attendant on board. Whether or not his problem was solved, I don't know, but this was in the middle of our conversation (with only one attendant, I will add), and so his attention was taken away from us and put on him. Our seats were changed from seats closest to the bathroom to the middle of the plane. My husband cannot walk so 14 rows walking was not possible. I will say that finally, it took three volunteers who offered their seats to us to sit near the much needed bathroom. Regarding being seated near the bathrooms, when we asked for an aisle chair (that they told us they had on board) we were told to "stand there. we will get one in around 10 minutes). And, the wheelchair was sent all the way to the BAGGAGE CLAIM and NOT GATE CHECKED, when we arrived in Houston, we can clearly see the frame is bent, the wheels are out of alignment and the brake is also bent out of shape. The wheelchair is a custom made chair just for my husband. We will be sending Turkish Airlines the bill for a new chair if it cannot be repaired. I hope you can see to address these problems. I am not hopeful it is not normally like this for Jews who wear their head coverings. Missed our flight by 90 minutes, the customer service people were rude at the airport and we had a 7 hour delay. What are you thinking???"

Was told I could pay a penalty o in excess of $450 to be placed on another flight, meanwhile same flights from Istanbul to Amsterdam were going for $213. I will avoid Turkish Airlines at all costs. Customer service is terrible. The most unprofessional, rude, ignorant, and disrespectful staff represent Turkish Airlines at IST. Furthermore, an email complaint has been ignored."

Access to the lounge was given finally after I produced my physical Gold card even though I gave them my UA number. There are no ticketing agents in the Istanbul Airport within the secured area. I was not comfortable going outside security and then back again through security to upgrade my ticket. Agents at Turkish Airlines CIP NOT helpful."

Khuyết điểm: "This was one of the worst days of my life, health-wise, so it could be that my observation of the passage of time was somewhat distorted, but Turkish did everything either slowly, or more slowly on this day. First, name two things on a flight line that are wheeled, movable objects. Did you answer bus and plane? Well done. So if both bus AND plane are theoretically mobile, why then must I endure a long walk AND a long bus ride? Boarding was an hour-long event, probably due again to inefficient ground services. I fell asleep and woke up twice before it was over."
Ưu: "The seats were a normal size for an international flight. Everyone got a blanket, pillow, earphones and eye mask in their seat, all of which were necessary for the 11-hour flight. There were a lot of great movies to choose from, as well!"

The stewardesses were friendly, but it was difficult to understand their English and the pilot's English (and I teach ESL). Every time that I have flown from Istanbul to Almaty, the plane is hot and people are sweating. This time I asked for the temperature to be adjusted, and after about 4 times, I finally felt a bit better - but still not comfortable. I don't know if this is a malfunction, or an opportunity to save money?"
