We did not receive any compensation, but Singapore/Silk Airlines told us they were able to get us a flight home to LAX instead, but that it wouldn't be until the next day. We spent money on a hotel and food and waited until the next morning, got to the airport early for check in only to find that Singapore/Silk had in fact, given up our seats that they had promised us. They said that we now would have to wait another day just to get a flight from Singapore to LAX. We asked to speak with a manager, and eventually were able to get two seats due to cancellations. This was intended to be a very special and romantic trip that was essentially ruined. Since no one could have anticipated that the volcano would cause cancellation, we should be refunded for our flights. We are so crushed that we did not get to go to Bali, and now we may NEVER get to go because we are out of money. At the VERY least, the leg of our flights from Singapore to Bali, and Bali to Singapore, should be refunded. We are extremely disappointed."

Exceptionally well groomed, but also conveyed genuine concern and helpfulness and at the same time, real workers, energetic and perky. We are bragging to all our friends about the uplifting cultural demeanor of Singapore Airlines. They should all get a pay raise. The flight attendants were working hard, but we're abrupt and tired. Overall, I have three stars, when in the past, flying SA was always a five star experience. It got me back home though. :)"

I get a wheelchair assist (elderly woman with some mobility issues). The service person who brought me to the gate never showed up again to help with the boarding. Instead (??), the airline had me boarding LAST (most airlines have had me board among the first), and then sitting at an aisle seat (most airlines have me at a window). They asked me to wait to deboard until all passengers were off - that is standard. But because I was sitting on the aisle I had to get up and wait standing while the two other passengers on the row got out, and then go back to be seated. Very awkward"

Everything is dated, there is not much left of seat upholstering after 20 years without any updates and the headrest sits at a hight where my shoulder is - with no chance of adjusting it. I left the 5 hour flight with backpain and the resolution to NEVER AGAIN fly with Hong Kong Airlines."

Ưu: "We were traveling Hanoi-Hong Kong...Looking at HK airlines website I found that my flight to/from HongKong to Southwest Pacific should be 30kg.Whe I got to airport to check in the agent said it was 20kg...I showed him the website...He claims southwestPacific is Aus/New Zealand even though Aus/NZ had there own category under Zone 3...It was very confusing and could have been quite expensive as they charge $10/kg excess weight.Other than that it was a nice experience.."
Ưu: "Ability to use headphones and electronic devices on flight. Chinese carriers, like china southern currently do not allow use of any electronics even those with flight mode. HK airport is a very easy and efficient airport to transit through or arrive at. Only singapore is easier."

All Asia countries and airlines rely on middle names and we had to get our tickets reissued in Hanoi after 10 minutes discussing with supervisor at the counter. We were very lucky they did not charge for reissuing the ticket. HK airlines did not allow our child seat even though it is FAA approved. Also made us check our baby stroller which is small enough to go under the seat because it did not have a cover. Finally connection too short so luggage did not make our connecting flight."
Ưu: "The staff were fast, friendly, and helpful. They all spoke good enough English to communicate properly at all times. Drinks and food came in a timely manner. The fight felt like it ended as soon as it started. Possibly the fastest disembarkment I've ever had."
Khuyết điểm: "On the first flight, the plane was equipped with newer technology, including a touch screen entertainment set. But, the flight announcements came over headsets at full blast volume. The return flight was using older equipment, no touch screens involved, but the announcements were not loud over headsets (thankfully)."

I guess the worst is the attitude ur being treated because we pay for a cheap ticket and we have to receive that sort of attitude inline with the price of ticket (only referring to ground staff of Hong Kong airline in Hong Kong airport )... an unforgettable annoying disrespectful experience"
