I stayed near another gait that had international flights, and it turned out the gate was clear on the other side of the complex, which is obscured by construction. If I hadn’t asked one of the workers there I would have missed my flight."

Khuyết điểm: "They have to take the prize for having the absolute slowest customer service in the world. When I booked my tickets, I emailed customer service to make sure I didn’t get a center seat. It took them two months - TWO MONTHS - to email me back, to tell me there was nothing they could do. I also had to be reticketed on my flight from Tokyo to Hanoi. It took them 3 1/2 hours to do this. I had to sit in the airport for 3 1/2 hours to get my ticket changed. Unbelievable. They could’ve chiseled it in stone faster than they issued it."
Ưu: "No wait at JAL business class checkin.....security and immigration were slow, didn't see a separate line for business class if it existed. Access to Korean lounge, was fairly standard. Crew very friendly once on board. Plenty of good food and drink for a relatively short flight."

Both I and another passenger who flew JAL the weekend before found the vegetarian food poor - very bland and too salty. The exact same menu all four times we flew. A pity as the rest of the service wa excellent. If JAL wishes to attract more international customers it would be a good idea for it to broaden its global perspective and provide better vegetarian options. I know others who've had similar concerns about other types of special meal."

Khuyết điểm: "We were informed our flight was not to land in Haneda but at Narita. We specifically picked that flight pattern because of the ease of traveling from Hawaii to Haneda to Naha. We wouldn't have to drag two large suitcases and a rollaboard after checking out of customs and immigration very far. Same airport to land and depart. Well the arrival airport was changed to Narita $32.00 per person for Airport Limobus to Haneda. We get off at Haneda and are informed we cannot stay there and wait at the domestic airport for our 6:25 am flight to Naha. We had to load all 6 pieces of luggage on the shuttle bus and transfer to the international terminal because they close the domestic terminal at midnight. There was no hotel accommodations at the domestic airport as the hotel was booked two months in advance!!! We had to wait at the international airport terminal till 4:30 am when we then transferred back to the domestic terminal with our 6 pieces of luggage. Tell me how happy you'd be!!!"

Khuyết điểm: "I thought I had ordered a vegetarian meal when I booked the flight roughly 1.5 months prior to my trip. However, when the meal was being served, there was only a chicken or pork option and my vegetarian meal had either not been properly booked or had been forgotten. When I informed the staff, I was asked to show proof that I ordered a veggie meal. I could not pull up my email confirmation as we were flying and there was no internet access. I had to lug my bag out of the overhead and search for a print out confirmation. I had not come prepared with the "evidence" the stewardess wanted. While the staff tried to be polite, I also found them to be quite rude, demanding that I produce evidence. Could they not have simply given me an extra salad without all the fuss? I felt I was being treated as a criminal for requesting a veggie meal that had, unfortunately, not been recorded in their system."
Ưu: "My seat and my son's seat were booked apart on the both flights. So I requested the representatives at the check in counters at both airports to change our seats so that we could seat next each other. They were willing to help us out and we got the great seats. They had to ask other customers to help this out, too. In the airplanes, the flight attendants were extremely helpful and friendly when we asked them questions and favors, with nice smiles and calm quiet voices. No wonder the atmosphere was very relaxing and quiet during the both flights. The leg room was roomier and the facilities were newer. When I saw three pilots bowed to the customers before getting into the airplane, I felt they were very professional and ready for their jobs."

Ưu: "I've been always flying with U.S. airlines this past several years just because transits are easier. I forgot about how friendly and nicer JAL crews are. Their food is much much better. They served us with a cup of Haagen-Dazs icecream for dessert while a Fatboy is normally served by other airlines. I was impressed by how spacious the foot area of their economy seat is. Because I felt quite comfortable, I slept five hours straight during the flight which is phenomenal to me. I will definitely fly with JAL again!"

Khuyết điểm: "I have been flying JAL from HK to Boston numerous times and by far my favourite (over Cathay and don't even need to mention United). However this past trip gave me a new perspective. Given it is a Japanese airline and all, it is normal for them to be Japanese-centric. We had an a-hole sitting in front of us at 51F during our flight to Narita and he was trying hard to argue with us in English, and even told us to move to another seat. When I had the flight attendant (her name is Sako on flight JL736 on Jul 26) over to discuss (in English) she went to the guy in front of us and started apologizing to him. For what??? She then came back to us speaking in Japanese and brushed the issue away. Sorry, no this was not acceptable, even though my fiance was okay with the situation."

We took off late (which, personally, at this point, I had just been on a 14 hour flight plus the 2 hours layover) - a delay just added to the exhaustion. Also, the plane was very old and very hot...even though it was only a one hour flight, it was very uncomfortable and outdated."

Khuyết điểm: "The airline demaged both of my completely new suitcases. They both had TSA approved locks. One of the suitcses has a missing wheel, another one ripped zipper and missing lock and it was wraped in plastic. A few items were missing from that bag."

The main courses were mediocre and the "sandwich" offered between meals on the 13+ hour flight was cold, soggy and inedible. The seats on our A350 were hard and not very comfortable, and the recline function was difficult to operate. Security at the Doha airport was confusing. We had to go through 3 separate checkpoints for our transfer, each with different rules and procedures. The final check at our departure gate was the worst, with impatient officials giving hurried instructions in heavily-accented English, and scolding if passengers didn't understand. I was sent back through a second time to remove my camera from the bag (and to be scolded by the agent), and was patted down a second time coming back through the x-ray, which had green-lighted me both times. It made me wonder if this was a reaction to the extra scrutiny that Arab passengers receive from our airport security in the USA."

But on the flight from DOH to PHL, the neck rest was awful - it only adjusted vertically (unlike the other flights), and it was too thick so that my neck was in an extremely uncomfortable position for 14 hours - not fun!"

The lady in the front desk was very rude, she asked me to fill in my info in the Verifly app, otherwise she couldnt check me in. I was in a rush dowloading the app, once I downloaded this one didnt work...it didnt let me select any option or to write any info. I asked her if she can help me and she told me she couldnt, it is Verifly or I would loose my flight At the end another lady from the airline told her this was nos necessary, and show her how to do it. But all the time they were very unkind, as if they were giving me the flight with no cost........"

Had to call SN customer service after AC could not check me in, then wait and wait as they had to try to correct the mistake 3x before AC counter could issue boarding passes. Terrible experience going through this with 2 small kids waiting. It’s as if the two airlines’ systems don’t communicate but passenger is responsible for resolving."

Air Canada check in process has passengers use self service kiosks first and then take the tags and luggage to the counter. The employees at check in were all very efficient and made sure the line didn't get too long. The flight left on time. Every seat had personal entertainment system, and mine worked great. The flight attendants themselves were very professional."

Almost all the passengers refused the 2nd attempt by crew to offer paid soft drinks."

We hadn't so we had to wait sometimes while they located one for us. As we had long layovers (so mom could rest) this wasn't a problem for us, but with shorter turn around times it could be an issue."

I have traveled internationally at least 15 times and this was by far the worst flight yet."

They made an announcement at the gate before boarding that anyone with a US passport had to complete an info card. I feel that was an inefficient way to collect that information as people who arrived after the announcement did not complete it. The card seemed a bit pointless."

I realize that the airline is not responsible for this and it is the airport crew. Overall a good experience. I will definitely take this flight again, but will not check in my hand baggage. The crew is very friendly and helpful - great service."
