Flight was delayed nearly 4 hours after we boarded at the gate. The bigger issue wasn’t that it was delayed but that the updates during that delay as to what was happening and how long is was going to take we’re few and far between. It started as a minor mechanical item to be checked which should take a few minutes and ended up with nearly a 4 hour delay. I do understand these things can happen but additional updates with better ETAs were needed.
I am a member of their award winning AAdvantage program and this has been one AdisAdvantage experience with multiple hurdles. My intial flight was supposed to be a nonstop. At around 10:30pm the night before the flight was canceled and the rebooked flight the same day was a one stop transit CHS. The gate agent required me to check in my carryon and said it'd go to my destination by 4pm. Due to inclined weather, AA landed in CLT instead of CHS. The gate agent advised me to get off, and in 5 minutes, run from terminal A to C to catch the next flight to my destination at 2:40pm. However the gate was closed despite all efforts. What troubled me was I would have made it to the gate earlier if the previous agent didn't argue with his colleagues on how to write a report note for 20 minutes before informing me of my choices. AA missed two next flights for me (2:40pm and 4pm) and the only option is to wait until 6pm. After 30 minutes speaking to AA customer support at the airport, I was given a food voucher of $12, which was worthless and humiliating for airport foods. Finally I made it to my destination at 8:30pm but my checkin baggage did not arrived. All my medications are in there! I lost one whole day of the trip that should have started at 9am but ended up arriving at 9pm without even a toothbrush or any clothes. AA baggage support was the most useless and no real person answers the phone. AA had a baggage file number for me but there was no update at all. I ended up going back to the airport baggage claim area THE NEXT DAY to see my bag among a bunch of lost bags on the floor.
Attendant was very considerate. Brought me coffee 3x and a ginger ale.
Because of turbulence we were not served anything unless we asked for it. But flight attendants were very nice and accommodating.

When we finally arrived, our Gate was taken by other plane already and we had to wait (more) for the first one to be available for us. Then, when we finally got our Gate, there was another issue, now with the "finger". They weren't able to move it and connect it to the plane to get off of it. So we had to wait AGAIN. And finally as soon as we got off the plane, they were supposed to give us our carry ons on the aisle (Because it was a small plane CR700) , but again, we had to wait almost 10 minutes so that they could send the luggage... To make things worse, I had a first class ticket and I couldn't get the perks of it at the airport. Because they said I wasn't flying in an international flight. Come on?! Canada->USA->Mexico is not International??? You lost me AA."

United crew politely asked if the gentlemen was willing to move to 6B, which his original seating in the system but he refused to do so. We' also personally explained to him that if he can yield the seat so that our family could sit together due to my wife's medical condition but he would not cooperate. I noted Those gentlemen on 1D and 1C are either buddies or coworkers. The crews were looking at each other without offering a solution. I ended up telling the crew that I could sit on 6B so that the plane can leave. The departure time was 20 min late u related my seating issue and de-icing took another 40 min. I am a Global Service member and I am very unhappy about the way the whole situation was created and handled by United."

What they failed to realize is that nobody needs a visa for China if they’re connecting in transit. It took a phone call and 3 staff members to sort things out. Not something that I want to deal with at 5:00 am. Moreover, due to the de icing, the flight was late and i just made it to my connecting flight in Newark. It was quite a hair-raising experience overall."

Some of the crew headed to the back of the plane wearing latex gloves and later a passenger went into a lavatory to change his pants. I think someone threw up on the poor guy. What I didn't like was no one telling us why we weren't taking off, and no apology when we did! Later in the flight, I was asleep when the crew went up the aisle with a food cart and pinched my foot!"
