I had the Japanese fare, which was lighter, but a little more salted than what I prefer - but over all very good. Service was amazing - the crew is super-nice. The plane, a massive 787 jet, absorbed the turbulence like it was nothing. It was like riding in one of those Cadillacs from the 1970's. The lavatories were big enough that I could actually stand up straight (and I'm 6'0"). The seats were pretty good as well - they had a feature for extension of the seating surface to allow for more thigh support (which I love) as well as great lumbar support. the movie selection was OK - neither great nor bad, and I ended up watching 4 movies during the flight anyway. ;)"
Khuyết điểm: "I preface this section by saying that I'm being very nit-picky here - there's not much I can really say, except that the seats, while they will recline to a flat surface, which is great for dozing off, they are angled about 15 degrees so you're constantly sliding down them in that position. Also, there could be more support for your head in the reclined position - I had to futz with pillows and a blanket to get that comfortable. However, the reclined position was the most comfortable, and I could get it so that I was sufficiently reclined with my legs extended and horizontal, while laying back without sliding down. This was sufficient for resting. I'm only mentioning this because I flew a business class flight on Delta in 2015 which had ridiculously amazing seats that reclined all the way flat and horizontal. On the 9-11 hour flight from Tokyo back to San Diego, which will take place mainly at night, this would be a very useful feature."

If JAL wishes to attract more international customers it would be a good idea for it to broaden its global perspective and provide better vegetarian options. The crew at check-in told me I could keep my purse with me, and the crew on the airline told me I had to put it overhead. Please be consistent! Flying is very stressful for me, and I want the staff to make it as stress-free as possible. As for boarding, I wasn't allowed into the gate until an hour before. What really bothered me was that they had already let some people into the gate and shut some other people out. Either let people in or don't. Don't follow the rules halfway because then they won't mean anything. I was very shocked by this and have never experienced this at any airline before. All I wanted to do was sit down and relax at the gate before boarding. If this ever happened to me again, I would not fly with the same airlines. To think that this was a JAL flight, with such a high reputation of customer service, makes me even more wary of booking a flight with JAL. I didn't appreciate being treated that way, and I will not tolerate it if it happens again."

I would disagree - the customer is ultimately supposed to get an email notifying them of the flight change, giving them options. Based on that phone call with Webjet, I will NEVER do business with them again. As for the flight cancellation issue - if Kayak could help me get to the bottom of this, that would be appreciated."

Otherwise, if I did not have an onward ticket, they stated they could not check me in, and would refund my ticket. The problem is there are many ways of travelling out of Thailand, and I frequently visit Cambodia and Thailand via bus. How could I produce a bus ticket which I usually buy only a week before departure?"
Khuyết điểm: "That was a bit of a rude shock, as I had never encountered such obstacles before, and most fortunately I did indeed have a reservation for a BKK-GVA ticket, or I would have been refused boarding. Apparently the Thai immigration authorities have a condition for Swiss citizens to possess an onward ticket before they can enter Thailand, but this is the first time an airline has applied this as strictly, and has been as insistent, as Cathay Pacific. I have been in & out of BKK hundreds of times, and this is the first time ever an airline has applied this rule to the letter. So, bottom line, never again will I fly Cathay Pacific."

Ưu: "I have never flown in a plane before due to an acute fear of flying. Upon boarding I felt sick, worried and confused and I had no idea of where I was going. I was cordially greeted by a smiling flight attendant who I am quite sure seen the discomfort and stress I was feeling. She warmly greeted me and I am sorry to say that my responds was only to show her my ticket hoping for some direction as to where I should go. I truly expected her to just point me in the general direction of my seat and send me on my way to fair on my own. She read my ticket and politely asked me to follow her. She brought me right to my seat and opened the overhead cargo space and carefully placed my carry on in the space above. Once seated I felt a little more comfortable and much less stressed. Prior to our take off the staff gave all the passengers general safety directions and shown us very clearly the exits. My flight was a scheduled fifteen hour flight during which I had a few general questions such as where is the bathroom and if it would be ok if I stretched my legs, etc. I had no problem getting the attention of the flight crew as one or more were always available and each of my questions were answered very professional by a very well trained staff. As I said, this was a fifteen hour flight and each time I looked up I seen a flight attendant busy with other passengers or preparing something such as drinks or food for the passengers. Not once did I see one of them just loitering or gathered in a corner talking to one another. I can not say that one flight attendant was more attentive then another because I did speak to a few of them on different occasions and found each of them professional and attentive to my needs. I was so relaxed by mid flight that I did manage to sleep and any anxiety I felt upon boarding left me entirely. My return flight was greeted by the same professionalism except this time I felt no anxiety about boarding and flying. Everyone to whom I met treated me as if I was traveling first class and really helped me overcome a very serious fear. I truly have nothing but praise and highly recommend your airline to my friends. Next year a very good friend of mine who experiences the same fear I had will be flying your airline to Hong Kong upon my recommendation and experience. I truly would like to thank everyone for a most pleasant experience and I am happy to say I will be seeing you all in the very near future. Thank you,"

CA was silent - and also very absent when we arrived in SFO and went to collect our baggage - again Eva being the party taking action and responsibility to help us get our bags, with 1 of 3 damaged by CA handlers)."

Making it all even later. No food offered for this quite expensive flight, only water, and no entertainment either."

The seat allocation was horrible, and I was surrounded by nasty neighbors, who were chatting throughout the 10+hour flight, even after my verbal warning, not to mention the way children were taken care of. I am not blaming children making noise. I am blaming the lack of control over the parents who bring noisy toys for children and play videos loud enough to disturb the neighbor's sleep throughout the flight."

Khuyết điểm: "I was injured on this flight. The crew flying the plane often changed altitude rapidly and without warning, without leaving time for air pressure to equalize. As a result, at one point during the flight the air pressure in my ears was so bad that the pain physically felt equal to the worst migraine I've ever experienced. We're talking head splitting pain. After the flight I was practically deaf for 3 days as I recovered, and the pressure did not equalize again until I was on another flight that ascended to around 8,000 meters. The tv personal entertainment system cut off 10 minutes into the flight (or at least the crew said it did - mine still worked, perhaps it was down for other passengers) they said it would be back on in 15 minutes, then it never came back on during the flight for the other passengers - but since mine was unaffected I don't consider this a negative. Overall, I would never ride with this airline again. What passenger plane had a problem with airpressure? Certainly none other that I've ever flown on. 0/10"

For the price tag similar to Cathay Pacific, they cannot even give me a blanket or even a pen. Furthermore, their customer service is quite slow. I accidently left my passport on the airplane, and it takes nearly two hours to get it back. I told the representative that I need to catch the last bus, but they can do nothing to help since each department is outsourced. I wish you don't need any urge help from Hong Kong Airlines because you will always be disappointed."
